Professor : Tsutomu Yokozawa
(Doctor of engineering)

Research associate :
         Akihiro Yokoyama

            Master Course: 6
4th grade undergraduates :13

The members of this group are professor Yokozawa, research associate Yokoyama, graduate students, fourth grade undergraduates of the department.
The research fields are synthetic organic chemistry and synthetic polymer chemistry. A feature of this group is that the two fields are not separated: they are both performed and freely mixed. For example, in order to establish the new concept of polymerization, we develop a new synthetic organic reaction as a propagation reaction of polymerization. If we encounter unclear points in side reactions in the polymerization process, we immediately perform model reactions by using ordinary organic compounds (low molecular weight compounds). If we discover unexpected reactions, we change the original object of the research naturally and engage in the new reactions.
The following are the major project of the group:
(1) Development of chain-growth polycondensation.
(2) Development of a simultaneous construction of polymer backbone.
(3) Development of new synthetic reactions using organosilyl compounds.
